Miyokos Creamery - 4 Vegan Cheeses Review

WOW… I really don’t know what other word to start with! I found Miyokos Creamery at Expo East (see my fav food allergy friendly Expo East finds blog for more), and I was immediately in love with this company. Everyone at the booth was so friendly, and it was clear they loved their products… which is so warm and inviting for me! They were sampling their different cheeses and making grilled cheese. YUM!

Grilled cheese are my fav. I cannot lie. It’s the best comfort food - probably tied with mac and cheese! They were cutting their grilled cheese (totally vegan by the way) into quarters and over the 3 days I must have had 1.5 - 2 full grilled cheese sandwiches. (Side note before you judge me: When you attend these expos, you don’t eat a full meal ever, you just walk around and nibble at the booths tasting different foods, drinks, etc. When my friend and I would get a little hungry, we would hit up our favorite booths for something savory and one of my go-to’s was Miyokos Creamery grilled cheeses.)

My mom, husband and I decided to have a fun taste tasting night with the cheeses below:

Fresh VeganMoz - Mozzarella

organic, lactose free, casein free, non-gmo, egg free, gluten free, soy free, lactose free, cholesterol free

For their famous grilled cheese sandwiches they were using my favorite of their cheeses, called Fresh VeganMoz (vegan mozzarella cheese) their vegan butter and bread. I was an instant fan! I actually do not eat any cow milk cheeses, except for regular mozzarella on occasion. I stick to goat milk cheese, like feta (I am Greek!) and sheep milk Romano. I would totally give up regular mozzarella for Miyokos Creamery Mozzarella cheese. My husband is pickier than I am when it comes to finding alternatives, and he really loved this cheeses! We whipped up a few grilled cheeses with it since I returned from Expo East. I love that this cheese is so creamy, it crumbles, or you can slice it for caprese salad or to add to a wrap or sandwich.

The verdict: For dinner tonight, I made a dish, similar to THIS recipe and topped it with crumbled VeganMoz. It was a hit! We love this cheese and would buy it again and again.

Classic Double Cream Chive organic, lactose free, casein free, non-gmo, egg free, gluten free, soy free, lactose free, cholesterol free

This cheese is soft, savory and so creamy it melts in your mouth! Something I love about these cheeses is that the ingredients list is so minimal, yet it creates such an incredible flavor that looks so beautiful on a cheese plate. We used Mary’s Gone Crackers Everything Seed Crackers and Jilz Gluten Free Mediterranean Crackerz, which both paired nicely with all of the cheeses. This would spread nicely on a piece of toast or to use in a sandwhich. It would definitely add a lot of flavor, too!

The verdict: We really enjoyed this cheese. I could see it being delicious on a sandwhich or to spread on a wrap. But, I must say, it was wonderful on crackers! We would buy this again, for sure.

Fresh Loire Valley in a Fig Leaf organic, lactose free, casein free, non-gmo, egg free, gluten free, soy free, lactose free, cholesterol free

This cheese is so beautiful on a cheese plate, let me tell you! It looks so gourmet and decadent! The scent of it is really refreshing, and the taste is even better. It reminded us of gouda a little, which is definitely a good thing. At first, I didn’t want to cut it open because it just looked so beautiful. It’s wrapped in wine-cured fig leaves and paired nicely with the Mary’s Gone Crackers Everything Seed Crackers and Jilz Gluten Free Mediterranean Crackerz. Yum!

The verdict: Okay, I would buy this cheese again and I plan to buy it for the next time we visit family or decorate a cheese plate. I think this cheese would automatically impress anyone! We loved this cheese.

Mt. Vesuvius Black Ash organic, lactose free, casein free, non-gmo, egg free, gluten free, soy free, lactose free, cholesterol free

Okay, I will not tell a lie! I was nervous to try this cheese. My husband looked at me and was watching me hesitate to cut this one. It was the last cheese that we cut open… but ended up being our favorite besides the mozzarella. The black ash throws you off a little visually, but please don’t let it! It was so incredible and we all thought it tastes like gouda. I could see it pairing wonderful with fruit like apples or grapes. It was wonderful on both crackers and was a hit!

The verdict: Don’t let this black looking cheese scare you. It’s incredible flavorful, creamy and a must try! We would buy this again in a heartbeat! Would look lovely on a cheese plate.

We love these 4 cheese and absolutely plan on purchasing them all again. Whether you are a vegan or not, this cheese is a winner! You would never know that these cheeses are made ingredients like cashews and coconut oil.

You can find their store locator at THIS LINK - their organic vegan cheeses are sold all over the country.
